Unit 7: Console and encourage

Berta: Hey Elisabet! You look a bit down. What's the matter?

Elisabet: Oh, I've just heard that my sister has got a job in Manchester and she's moving away.

Berta: Oh, right... Sorry to hear that. It isn't the end of the world though.

Elisabet: I know, but I'm really going to miss her.

Berta: Don't take it too badly, at least she won't be very far away and you can visit her. Manchester's a really cool city.

Elisabet: That's true, I suppose.

Berta: Look at it this way, if she hadn't got that job, she'd have been really disappointed.

Elisabet: Yeah, maybe you're right.

Berta: Cheer up! Come on! Let's go to a café or something.

Elisabet: Ok. Thanks, Berta. I feel a bit better now.

Unit 6: Apologize for a misunderstanding

Berta: Excuse me. Can I have a word with you?

Elisabet: ...Yes, Is there a problem?

Berta: I'm afraid so. Did you know that this is private property?

Elisabet: No, I didn't.

Berta: Didn't you see the sign?

Elisabet: I'm afraid not.

Berta: Have you been here before to play football?

Elisabet: No, I live out of town.

Berta: Well, if I were you, I'd look for a different place.

Elisabet: OK. Sorry about that. I didn't realize.

Berta: That's OK. Remember for next time.

Unit 5: Change something in a shop

Berta: Hello. Are you OK there?

Eli: Yes, hi. I was given these jeans as a present but they're too small. Is it OK if I change them?

Berta: That should be OK. Have you got the receipt?

Eli: Yes, here you are.

Berta: OK. Well actually, we've sold out of those jeans, I'm afraid. You can choose something else if you like.

Eli: Oh, right. Can I try these things on?

Berta: Yes, sure. The changing rooms are over there.

...

Eli: What do you think of this coat? It isn't too long, is it?

Berta: No, I don't think so. It's really funky.

Eli: Ok. I'll take it then. Thanks.

Unit 4: Ask for and give information

Berta: Hello, there. Can I help you?

Elisabet: Yes, I'm staying in Barcelona with a friend next week and we were wondering if there's anything to see around there. Have you got any information?

Berta: Yes, there are Ballon Flights if you're interested. I'll get you a leaflet.

Elisabet: That sounds good. What time do the trips leave?

Berta: Oh, they're fairly regular – they go every day except Tuesday at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Elisabet: OK. And how much is the trip? We've got student cards.

Berta: Let's see... Well, in that case it's 40 pounds per person. The full price is 50 pounds.

Elisabet: That's fine! We'll go on Monday, then. Do we need to book it?

Berta: I'll book it for you if you like. Can I take your names?

Unit 3: Exchange opinions

Elisabet: Hi, Berta! Have you seen these?

Berta: No... What are they?

Elisabet: They're posters for anti-drugs campaign. All the people of this high school have to choose which one's the best and explain why.

Berta: Let me see it... Mmm... What do you think?

Elisabet: I'm not sure, I can't really decide. I suppose that the one on the left has got a clearer message. Do you agree with that?

Berta: Well... yes and no. It's very clear, it's truth, although it isn't very effective.

Elisabet: Why do you think that?

Berta: Because I reckon you should be positive. For me, the one on the left is trying to be scary.

Elisabet: Yes. You might be right there...

Unit 2: (extra) The Twin Monkeys

Elisabet: Hi Berta. What's up?

Berta: Not bad. How are you?

Elisabet: I'm OK. Do you fancy coming at the Central Auditorium to listen a band with me and some friends?

Berta: Oh, that sounds good! But... What band is it?

Elisabet: The band is called the Twin Monkeys. They are very popular!

Berta: Yes. I know it! What day is the concert?

Elisabet: Is on Saturday 14th of November at 8.00 p.m. Have you already decided?

Berta: Yes! Of course! I'll come with you.

Elisabet: OK. All right. I'll see you there.

Berta: Bye Elisabet. It will be great!

Elisabet: Bye!

Unit 2: Invite someone out

Elisabet: Hi, Berta. I haven't seen you for a while! What's going on?

Berta: Not bad. How are you?

Elisabet: I'm OK. Hey, have you seen the new shopping center yet?

Berta: No, I haven't, but I've heard it's very big.

Elisabet: I'm going to buy there tomorrow with some friends. Do you fancy coming?

Berta: Yeah, OK. That would be great. What time?

Elisabet: I'm not sure. I'll text you, OK? What's your mobile phone number?

Berta: It's 688495724.

Elisabet: OK, thanks.

Berta: All right. See you tomorrow, Elisabet.

Elisabet: OK. See you, Berta.

Berta: Cheerio!

Unit 1: Talk about events in the past

Elisabet: Did I ever tell you about my 18th's birthday party?

Berta: No, when was that?

Elisabet: Oh, it was ten years ago now. I've got some photos.

Berta: Really??? Can I see?

Elisabet: Of course!

Berta: Were there many people there?

Elisabet: There were about a hundred of us.

Berta: Did you have a good time?

Elisabet: Yes, we did. We all had a great time! The best part was at the end of the day, when the sun set down...

Berta: What happened then?

Elisabet: Mmm... I met a nice boy. He was a very good person with me this day, and he was the most important person of my life. We spent all the days together until today. He is your grandpa!

Berta: Oh, I'm sure that it was a very important day for you and for him, almost the best of your life, isn't it?
